Customizable ECMO carts

This started as a cooperative project with a local perfusion manager that worked with us, as we designed and built a prototype ECMO cart based on the input of many staff.   

Their old ECMO carts, used for ambulating the ECMO patients, were not stable enough, and often got caught in elevator thresholds.  

The carts felt top heavy, and staff was not comfortable or confident in the cart's ability to support the massive and heavy equipment needed to be on the cart and shelfs.

Their old carts did not have sufficient storage for the hoses, lines and cords needed to support the ECMO equipment, and made the cart an uncomfortable mess.

The old carts did not easily allow for removing, cleaning or moving items on the cart.

We listened, and designed, and listened again, and designed more, and after many meetings, and multiple changes, and refinements, finally built a prototype, for further refinements and changes.  Once the prototype changes were approved, we produced over 20 of these customized ECMO carts for our customer, per their specifications and approval of all design specs and refinements, and delivered on schedule.  

The customer is still very happy with the carts, after over 3 years of use, and has even ordered 3 more.
